Desperation Band: Strong God/Wonderful

Posted on by ASowma in Blog, MusicILike | Leave a comment

Ok folks, this is our Must Have Music Friday’s band. Today I have found two videos that should get you real excited about praising God. Today we’ll take a listen to two new songs off the new DESPERATION BAND album. The thing is, I bought two of their cd’s a few years back because a friend of mine attended their church in Colorado. The thing is, back then I honestly only liked maybe 3-4 songs between the two albums. I had to take the risk for this new album because I felt there was gonna be something good I would miss out on if I didn’t. It turns out I was totally right, and Desperation Band is totally coming into their own on this album. I know that I have no right to say that technically, but for my own taste, their skill, and song writing chops, they have come a long way. Anyways, enough banter for this Friday’s post. With no further ado, two of my favorite songs off the album!

Take the Me and make it a WE (Experiencing God study)

It seems hard to go from me to we. As I look deeper into what God is calling the church to do, and what I believe he is calling me to do, I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever get it. If the mentality of “we” will just naturally kick in. I think in some ways maybe as a natural inclination that might not happen. On a physical level, as in what I can do, what I can change myself, what adjustments I can make for me. I think it’s possible. I think it’s possible for my desires to be a little off, but still make the right choice based off of what I know is the right way to do something. I think it’s taking action first that sometimes is more important. I think that doing it allows your heart to follow after. And if I have learned anything this last week, God’s just re-affirming that it is always him and not me that does things in my life. Sure I can make decisions here and there, and I have a certain amount of freedom to do things, but it’s really the heart of God that changes things.

First things first.
Lots of people have been commenting on that lately. That when you focus on God, the rest will take care of it self. And, the hard part about that it seems is that we have to stand back and take a non-active stance in order to walk through that phase. WE are called to enter into Gods presence and be there. Wait for Him to move us, engage us, love us, show mercy on us, take care of us. The good news is that He already has, but we are often too busy to notice. Perhaps we have to learn to start saying no. But when do you say no. When do you say yes. What if you don’t feel like God has an answer for you. Is that automatically a no? You know what I mean?!?

Some things from the Experiencing God book I’m studying…

1. God is always at work around you.
2. He wants to be in a love relationship with you.
3. God invites you to be apart of His work.
4. He speaks to reveal himself, His purpose, and His will.
5. He requires faith and action on your part.
6. This means you must make major adjustments in your life.
7. You will experience God through obeying Him and seeing Him
accomplish His works through you in your life.

Adjustments.
We would like to think that we are pretty malleable. We like to think that we are rather adept at changes, but in fact we are usually not. When God calls us into His plans that takes adjustment. So often we ask God, “God, bring us to where you are. God, let me do your will,” but then we are not willing to make the proper adjustments necessary to comply with this request. SO, how can we make ourselves ready to follow through. What mentality can we take that allows us to be ready when ever that change comes.

John 15:5
“I AM the vine, and you are the branches. Any man that abides in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. Apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Without God, no changes can be made. We must abide, and there in is the action, that must make the difference.

Embrace us with your love, Oh God
Embrace us with your sweet, sweet love, Oh God

Susy:
Your mercies never fail
So, give us love

*** Word from God to Me (Aaron)*** An unofficial word from prayer.

We will move into a time in the church where the unexpected would rise. Where the unacknowledged will stand up and lead. Where the people pushed off will rise up to lead the church into a new era. A time where a major overhaul will happen in the Korean church. God’s people have been pushed off too long. Gods children have been ignored for far too long. There will come a time when they will rise up. They will arise. The will arise.

* You will make a way
You have made away

Ben:
No longer orphans, no longer orphans
You adopt us as your own

* This will rise, in their time
You appoint all ways
You appoint all truth

You have adopted your people
Appointed us as your own
We are your own
Nothing can take us away from OUR GOD

Love of God overflow
Overflow upon the Earth
Love of God overflow
Upon the people of Korea

Arise, Arise, and Shine
There’s glory here
My glories here.

Arise all

[Arise all you sleeping, Arise all you weary] X3-5

I’m here, I’m waiting
My arms wide open
My arms wide open

*
We lack nothing (X3)
You give us what we need to rise and shine
We lack nothing
______________________________________________________________

Reveal your heat to me
Reveal your all to me
Reveal yourself to me
I want it all

You are always with me (X2)
I am yours, I am yours, I am yours

Revelation

K1 Prayer Tab 2 (Wednesday May 2nd, 2012)

When God does something…
When God changes your heart, something very special is happening.

Your words have power.

Your identity is not (found) revealed in what we (you) do, but who you are.
=> We are the children of God

Sometimes your seeming apathy and silence says more than all the words in the world.

You have to say the right words for the right truth to take hold

***Let our love be a sign that you are here, that you are with them.
